Scientists Scanned a Pharaoh's Mummy — Exposing a 3,000‑Year‑Old Cover‑Up

For over 3,000 years, Egypt's most powerful pharaoh kept a secret wrapped in linen — one no blade, no archaeologist, and no grave robber dared to uncover. Until a CT scanner changed everything.

In 2012, a forensic team led by Zahi Hawass and radiologist Sahar Saleem slid the mummy of Ramesses III into a hospital scanner — no cutting, no unwrapping, no destruction. What came back on that screen was a 70-millimetre gash carved clean through his throat, down to the vertebrae themselves. Not a wound. A guarantee. The Harem Conspiracy hadn't just been planned. It had worked, in seconds, exactly as intended. Three thousand years of historical debate — closed, by a single measurement in millimetres. But the scan didn't stop there. A second wound appeared at his left foot — a toe hacked off by a heavier weapon, with no sign of healing, pointing to multiple attackers, coordinated, striking from two sides at once. And buried inside the fatal throat wound itself? A hidden Eye of Horus amulet — placed there by embalmers who wrapped a murdered king so carefully that even the evidence of his death was concealed beneath the bandages. Then there's the second body. Nameless. Buried in disgrace. Hands and feet bound. A face frozen in a three-thousand-year scream. The same machine that read his father's wound found the DNA connection that history had refused to write down — and finally gave a face to Pentawer, the erased prince whose real name Egypt deliberately destroyed. Two bodies. One royal bloodline. One machine that looked without touching — and refused to let the silence hold. 📚 Sources & Further Reading: ●🔬 Primary Study — Ramesses III CT Scan & DNA (BMJ 2012): https://www.bmj.com/content/345/bmj.e8268 ●📄 Full Study via ResearchGate (Free Access): https://www.researchgate.net/publication/233941674 ●🧬 ScienceDaily — Official Study Summary: https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/12/121217190641.htm ●🏛️ Smithsonian — Multiple Assassins Report: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/ct-scan-shows-pharoah-Ramesses-iii-was-murdered-multiple-assassins-180958559/ ●🔬 Screaming Woman / CIT8 Study — Frontiers in Medicine (2024): https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/medicine/articles/10.3389/fmed.2024.1406225/full ●📰 NPR — Screaming Woman Mummy Coverage: https://www.npr.org/2024/08/02/g-s1-15147/screaming-mummy-egypt-pain-study ●🦴 LiveScience — Ramesses III Mummy Gallery: https://www.livescience.com/25653-mummy-king-ramessess-iii.html Subscribe to Stone & Bone — where history's buried cases finally get dug up. #Ramesses3 #AncientEgypt #EgyptianHistory #PharaohMurder #MummySecrets #EgyptianMysteries #AncientHistory #Egyptology #RoyalConspiracy #CTScanMummy #StoneAndBone BS203M
